Helping animals.
Changing lives.
All the beautiful sentiments in the world weigh less than a single lovely action.
RAW was founded by Andy Grobler in 2018. Its growth and success over the past five years are a tribute to his and his team’s caring, commitment, and dedication. Our focus is on:
Vaccination, sterilisation and education
Improving the health and wellbeing of domestic animals
Stemming the spread of disease, unwanted litters, and hunger
At RAW, we consider ourselves as an animal welfare organisation rather than a rescue organisation. Most of our work is done in the community.
We have no animal shelter as such, though we help where we can. We trap and sterilise feral cats. We also foster and home any young kittens or puppies.

Between January and December 2022, RAW treated 758 animals.
This includes:
At our clinics, time is spent with pet owners discussing nutrition and animal care. All animals leave our clinics with a small bag of food. Where a need is identified, we also support animals with monthly food.
The South African Veterinary Association's mobile clinic, based in Langebaan, comes to the Valley twice a month. The clinic performs vaccination and sterilisation and charges us a welfare rate. Our beloved Bergzicht Vet in Malmesbury also gives us a welfare rate for vet visits, treatment and surgery.

We are funded entirely from donations. Quality goods are donated to the RAW Charity Shop in Riebeek Kasteel for resale to the public. We also receive financial donations via fundraisers such as dinners, events, and raffles.
We receive no corporate funding or sponsorship, and very few regular monthly donations.
RAW relies on the hard work of a small group of dedicated volunteers and a fieldworker. The fieldworker identifies needs in the local community.
Besides ongoing funding for the clinics and vet bills, RAW also badly needs its own bakkie. This will help our fieldworker to react quickly to emergencies and assist with animal transport on our sterilisation days.
